New Immigration Law Could Help You Get a Green Card in Mendocino, California For Sale

Type: Legals, For Sale - Private.

Last week, President Obama announced new immigration legislation that affects thousands of immigrants living in the U.S. Under the new proposed rule, the process for applying for a visa will become easier for undocumented immigrants or immigrants whose visa or border crossing card has expired.
Currently, most paths to getting a visa and permanent residence card make it hard for families to stay together during the immigration process because most channels to get a visa mandate that the immigrant leave the U.S. before they can file for a visa. Some family members may have to stay abroad for 10 years or more before they can file their visa under federal immigration laws. In order to stay in the country, immigrants must file a waiver claiming that their deportation would cause “extreme hardship” to them or their families. This waiver isn’t much help since it often requires immigrants to leave the U.S. and file their waiver from their country of origin.
However, the new law allows immigrants to file their waiver for residence while present in the U.S. The visa application process may still include a substantial amount of waiting in order for a visa to become available, which may put you in violation of other immigration laws about undocumented residence in the U.S. Further, the law will take some time to take effect and the chance to file your waiver without leaving the U.S. may take time.
Despite these negatives, a faster way to get your waiver will mean a faster process towards getting your green card. After your waiver is approved, you can look into the green card process for family of residents or citizens or immigrant employees by filing to be a “permanent resident.” All the while, you won’t have to worry about having to leave the U.S. in order to gain your permanent residence card and don’t have to worry about not being able to re-enter the country.
