Sutter Lakeside Hospital and Center for Health is a 25-bed critical access hospital serving the health care needs of residents of Lake County and its surrounding communities. Our beautifully landscaped campus houses medical-surgical beds, an intensive care unit and a new 29.000 square foot state-of-the-art emergency room and surgical center. Other specialized care services are offered through our Family Birth Center, Physical Therapy Center, and Family Medicine Clinic.
We are searching for a dynamic Speech Pathologist to join our growing team! This is to help cover some sick/vacation time for our perm staff. The Speech Pathologist plans and implements Speech Therapy programs for individual patients according to the principles and practices of speech therapy. Serves as a resource and provides structured educational opportunities within the hospital in area(s) of training.

A. Appropriately evaluates patients in the following areas:
1. Articulation, fluency, mastication, or swallowing.
2. Vocal quality and vocal production.
3. Auditory processing, auditory memory.
4. Verbal language, written language, visual processing, visual memory.
5. Cognition and communication.
6. Non-verbal/honoral language.
B. Predicts disorders.
C. Develops and implements appropriate treatment programs:
1. Orients patient to his/her individual program.
2. Develops realistic personal goals with patient.
3. Applies therapeutic intervention effectively.
4. Designs and instructs appropriate treatment program.
5. Instructs patient in home care and preventive activities.
D. Demonstrates working knowledge of:
1. Evaluative and assessment tools, specific to scope.
2. Basic therapeutic techniques and progression.
E. Other responsibilities:
1. Elicits and records information about patients medical history.
2. Communicates with physician with written and verbal reports of patient status, progression and treatment plan.
3. Dictates daily progress notes on patients and bi-weekly progress letters.
4. Responds to needs and concerns of patient.
5. Communicates on a professional level at all times.
6. Advises patients concerning methods for prevention of various disabilities.
7. Maintains safe equipment and environment.
8. Maintains accurate records on all patients with timely implementation of physician orders.
9. Maintains effective communication with department staff.
10.Accounts for all chargeable items, supplies and equipment.
11.Follows departmental and division policies and procedures.
12.Maintains current membership in appropriate professional organization.
13.Defines professional goals and works toward these accomplishments.
14.Acts as clinical instructor to student interns as appropriate.
Education and/or Experience: The Speech Pathologist must be a graduate of an accreditedschoolofSpeech Pathology, with a M.A., or M.S. degree. Must be licensed or eligible for licensure in the state in which pathologist wishes to practice.
Knowledge:
A. Language skills ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, technical procedures and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, patients, customers and the general public.
B. Mathematical skills ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
C. Reasoning ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.). Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
